The family legacy is becoming real to me now

As my years progress into my seventies, I now take the word LEGACY seriously. What I think is most important is not the money, the land or those things, but the fact that I tried to reconnect with my wife, my daughters and my grandchildren. I admit that I am a loner, a bit of a hermit. I constantly look for ways to escape from this prison that I create for myself.

When my wife and I travel, we reconnect. We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon and it set a great pattern for us later on. Decades later, we always hope to ‘get out of town’ and escape the urban frenzy. Sometimes this is just a short one hour drive and sometimes to the tropics. Everything is alright!

Then there are the three daughters to reconnect with. We are all close, but in different ways. A daughter plays the guitar. I’ve always played guitar so this is a great way to reconnect if we’ve grown a little apart. My granddaughter, who is his daughter, has now learned to play the guitar, so now there is a good feeling of legacy that warms my heart.

Another daughter loves talking about rock bands like U2 and Led Zeppelin. This is how we reconnect. We recently took her to an amazing concert starring Paul Simon and Sting. It was her birthday and we could tell that she was really into music!

Our oldest daughter loves music too, but more like Abba and Supertramp. I love these bands too! My grandson, his son, plays the electric guitar. Cold! This daughter loves to eat fish and chips with her father from time to time. This is a very delicious way to reconnect, if you ask me.

If I let myself become a hermit, I will become a hermit crab. This is what my inner child is saying wisely. I am trying to heed this warning and break out of my shell. Maybe soon I will try some social networks or just limit myself to writing articles. Everything is helping me emerge as a person. It also helps that he walks a lot on sunny days and plays the guitar and mandolin a lot. If I allow myself, I could even try playing the violin or the string bass. I’m on a roll!

Even thinking about RECONNECT is having positive effects on my psyche. I’ll keep going with this new positive attitude, sixteen for now, and I’ll keep writing article after article!
