Party to welcome the baby

I’ve never planned a welcome home party before, but I’m planning one. This is my daughter’s fourth baby, so I won’t be having a baby shower. I am planning it for a family and friends time and also for a big brother party. It will be a cookout on the grill with hot dogs and brats.

The only drawback is that the date will be the Saturday of Memorial weekend. My hope is that the baby will be born by then and maybe at least a week old. I have made a list of decorations and food that will be on the menu. An invite is placed on social media so you can get an idea of how many will plan to attend by RSVP. I also bought paper cups, plates, and plastic items at a dollar store.

I already planned out what foods I want to have and made a guest list to call as well. I’m informing my guests about the plan to make it a big brother party too. Having the 3 brothers as guests of honor was a great idea, they said. As for the decoration and assembly, you will most likely do it when you go there at the beginning of the week. My husband will cook the hot dogs and brats on the grill and I will buy the salads and sides the day before.

Well while I was planning this party my daughter had her baby 6 days ahead of schedule and it went really well and it was a good thing. It went so well that I was able to include my daughter and her husband in the party planning.

He had a photographer come by to take pictures of the family at the beginning of the week when we went down. This photographer took pictures of the whole group, small groups, and individually. In the end, the baby was sleeping and individual photos of her were taken in an instant while they changed her clothes and used different backgrounds. Everything went wonderfully well.

The week went by fast with planning and collecting RSVPs. The little one had time to get to know his older siblings and they felt comfortable around him.

Inspired by the holiday weekend, many friends and relatives decided to come to the party. The weather was cooperative and the garage and house were decked out. The food was well received by those who came to celebrate the little boy and his family. The pastor and his wife came and dedicated the little boy to the Lord. It was a great day and everyone had a wonderful visit. Everyone welcomed the new little one and congratulated the older brothers and mom and dad.
